 Background
Mao Tse-Tung (Zedong) later known as Chairman Mao led his supporters to victory in 1949 where the Chinese People’s Republic was established under communist rule. China world power again
Subject matter and content summary
The video China world power again highlights China’s resurgence and renewed hope   in the communist country after Xi Jinping took over as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China in 2012. Prior to Jiang’s ascendancy the party that had been characterized with corruption, internal power struggles and lack of ideological clarity. Xi Jinping laid out his vision at the 2017 Chinese Communist Party Convection highlighting the country’s global leadership on the economic and political front as well as they way forward to sustain growth in the next decade.
Positive aspects
The video is relevant in highlighting how Xi has wielded power, with his emphasis on anti –corruption efforts. The video further links Xi Jinping’s leadership style to his need to reemphasize nationalism, patriotism and further supporting communism since there was no other powerful country supporting socialism after the collapse of the Soviet Union.  There is a translation of the Chinese speakers’ words, providing clarity on the relationship between Xi Jinping’s vision and China’s growing power at a time when capitalism has helped the country grow economically, while leaders emphasize communism is relevant.

For instance, in highlighting that Xi supports Mao’s dictatorial style  and the benefits of market capitalism, there should have been more emphasis on how Mao’s leadership affected the country. The narrator, those interviewed and respondents indicated that China had integrated elements of free market economy, but the film only briefly focused on limiting freedom and political participation.

The film was helpful to understand how Jinping has focused on the rule of law, propaganda, and capitalism to brand himself, while amassing power like Mao without abandoning the communist ideology.  The film is also helpful to understand the impact of communism in the Chinese society and the place of Mao even after the reforms and industrialization.
Personal opinion
Even as China yields power the international stage more than ever before, the Chinese communist leaders do not seek a radical change in world order. The film is effective in linking China’s communist past, and the present, when the economy is more industrialized. Furth...
