Mao Tse-Tung (Zedong) later known as Chairman Mao led his supporters to victory in 1949 where the Chinese People’s Republic was established under communist rule. While the Chinese society was primarily agricultural and illiterate Mao sought to transform the society into an industrialized state. The video China world power again highlights China’s resurgence and renewed hope in the communist country after Xi Jinping took over as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China in 2012. Prior to Jiang’s ascendancy the party that had been characterized with corruption, internal power struggles and lack of ideological clarity.
