Clint Eastwood's movie a Million Dollar Baby tells the story of an aged fighter and young lady who believes that she can be a boxer. The movie is narrated by one of the trainee's best friends and a former boxer. Eastwood plays the role of Frankie, a trainer who has a gym in Los Angeles. He also reads poetry. Maggie has been a waitress since the age of thirteen years, and she believes that boxing would allow her to quit being a waitress. Scrap, Frankie's friend, lives in the gym. At first, Frankie is reluctant about training Maggie because he doesn't believe in her. However, Scrap convinces him to train the girl. Frankie and Maggie end up forming an inseparable bond that changes them in different ways. Given Maggie's determination, she is able to become one of the first females to win a prize of one million dollars. The boxing career involves high risk since the ring seems to be unforgiving. Maggie has to endure the knockdowns for her to remain on track in her career.

The director of the movie was able to bring out the various economic challenges that face women. A substantial number of people might consider boxing as a career for men. However, women have ventured into boxing and are making a living out of it. Throughout her life, Maggie has struggled with the challenges of being a waitress.
