Sound and Fury documentary is a superior movie that has provided insights on issues related to the deaf community. The film has highlighted the devastation that parents go through once they learn that their kids have hearing challenges. Medical professionals, however, have the ability to restore the hearing capability by providing the affected children with cochlear implants. The documentary has provided different views about this medical procedure, from one side, the implant is seen as a miracle, and it is assumed that every parent with a hearing-impaired child would undertake this medical technology to help the child gain hearing capabilities. On the other side, the impacts are examined as a threat to the deaf culture and that the media produce is cruel since the implants are placed deep inside the skull, which may be uncomfortable for young children. The literature examines and evaluates why cochlear implants may be considered for a deaf child.
It is important to consider providing deaf children with a cochlear implant. This is critical because profound deafness may have negative impacts on the development of critical aspects such as auditory speech perception. Besides, it is important for every parent with a child having hearing problems to consider the available medical operations that would help in restoring healing abilities; this is essential since the inability of the child to develop oral communication skills may affect the child later in life (American Academy of Audiology, 2019). It would be challenging for the hearing-impaired child to compete on educational as well as employment opportunities later in life.
