Reactions are important and necessary in various chemical and biological processes. Enzymes are used to catalyze reactions, hence reducing the time taken to complete a reaction. Enzymes were first discovered in the 18th and 19th century in the manufacture of beer. Other enzymes were later discovered during biological tests in the study of human physiological processes. Enzyme amylase is one of the enzymes facilitates the human digestion in the human gut.
The purpose of the experiment is to determine the effects of substrate concentration and pH on the initial rate of an enzyme-catalyzed reaction. This will be done by virtual simulation. Each test tube used for simulation contains the same amount of enzyme solution. The pH levels are adjusted, or some amount of the substrate is added to collect the necessary data.
