The United Nations (UN) refers to a transnational agency that plays the role of promoting global peace and security, attaining international cooperation and developing friendly relations among countries. It is an agency involved in peacekeeping and facilitating the actions of countries. The global agency also helps countries in handling different social and economic problems by promoting respect for human rights and advancing internal law. The scope of UN authority to act as an enforcement institution and negotiation facilitator
The UN is the biggest and the most powerful international organization in the globe. The multinational agency was developed on Oct 24, 1945, after the Second World War to maintain peace and prevent future international conflicts. The UN’s scope of authority, which provides the agency with the power to act as a negotiation facilitator and an enforcement institution, is outlined in article 1 of the UN Charter. The objective of the UN, according to article 1 of the charter, is to promote global peace and security. The organization in achieving this purpose has the power of taking adequate measures to prevent and eradicate threats to peace maintenance through several actions such as suppressing acts of aggression. The UN can also contain other peace breaches and solve conflicts through peaceful means in line with international law and principles of justice. The UN also has the mandate to create friendly relations among countries founded on the principle of respecting equal rights and people's self-determination. The organization achieves this objective by taking adequate measures to enhance universal peace and social development. The UN also has an aim of attaining international cooperation among the member states, which assists the agency in solving issues that relate to the social, economic and cultural or humanitarian nature. The organization can achieve this objective by promoting respect for basic freedoms and human rights for humanity without considering the race, sex, language, religion, and class of a person. The UN thus harmonizes the actions of countries to achieve these shared objectives.
