The chosen word from the Bible is Abram because he is the Hebrew patriarch from where all of the Jews can trace their roots from, instructed by God to flee the country for another place. He was also ordered by God to sacrifice Isaac his son, which is written in Genesis 22. Although, this command was revoked later on. In addition to this, Abram was also called the father of multitude and it is the original name of Terah’s youngest son. According to Bible Gateway, Abram means “feather of height” and it was a name from God when the promise of progeny to him was renewed (1998).
The place of Abram in the portrait gallery of the Bible is different and inaccessible. Abram stands out as a spiritual landmark in the world’s history. His life is presented in detail, and he is a well-known character in the bible.
In the lexicon, there is no range in the meaning of the word and it is written in Hebrew as אברם and with a little less gravitas. The Shakespearean meaning of Abram is: “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Servant to Montague.” The fascination of Shakespeare to Abraham is because he nearly sacrificed his son Isaac and there are a lot of child killings in Shakespeare’s early plays. Although, this does not mean his narratives manifest scenes about sacrificing children or verbal borrowings from Abraham’s story. Jackson says that the most significant influence Genesis 22 is found in Shakespeare’s conceptual framwork (2014).
