1. What is an information system? How does it work? What are its people, organisation and technology components? 
"An information system is a set of information and a complementary networks made of software and hardware that people and organizations use to collect, filter, and process, create and disseminate information to its relevant users" CITATION DAt08 \l en-US (D’Atri, DeMarco and Casalino 2008). There are six key components of information systems which include the hardware. The hardwareconsists of the storage devices, communication devices and the computer itself with the processing unit. The software consists of programs which give directionsor instructions to thecomputercomponents for it to process the information given. Data are raw facts which are entered into the computer either manually or through a storage device for processing by the computer. Procedures consists of the rules and policies that govern the operations of the information system. People are among the most crucial comments of the information systems who are often overlooked at. They are the ones who offer maintenance services to the information systems, enter data to information systems and also use the information generated. The last component of the information system is the feedback. In the world today the influence and use of information systems in business organization is inevitable. The use of information systems has become a key competitive advantage among organizations around the globe. "The utilization of the wireless communication networks such as computers and mobile hand held computing devices they have helped keep managers, employees, customers, suppliers and business partners connected always" CITATION Tho14 \l en-US (Thomas 2014). The customers can communicate with the business at any time and request for deliveries. The managers can monitor and supervise their employees through these information systems. The managers can make request for supplies in an efficient manner saving time and costs. Email, online teleconferencing and the websites have made communications possible without geographical barriers CITATION Tho14 \l en-US (Thomas 2014). The individuals can communicate with each other in real time irrespective of their locations. This removes the geographical barrier which limited the area of operation of businesses. They have made imports and exports easier and reduced the costs associated. In essence the information systems have increased communication channels at a reduced cost of communication. With such advantages customers are able to request for more products and services at lower costs. It has also enabled collaboration and connection between competitive businesses around the world. With each having a different allocation it becomes easier for businesses to learn from each other and foster their growth.
