Mathematics: Science Communication, Invented or Discovered, and the Fold and Cut Theorem

Essay Instructions:

Answer the three questions
1. Find one video example of science communication, about mathematics, that you think has an effective focus and one that does not. Write at least a few sentences for each video explaining why you’ve chosen it. Please include links to the videos you choose.
2. Using the storytelling structure (you can ignore the "mind-blowing fact" part since we haven't discussed that yet), write a few paragraphs answering the age-old question: was mathematics invented or discovered? Note that there is no correct answer to this! People have been discussing/arguing about this for centuries. :-)
3. Read this article about the father-son team who co-wrote the paper about the "fold and cut theorem" that we learned about in class: https://www(dot)quantamagazine(dot)org/father-son-team-solves-geometry-problem-with-infinite-folds-20220404/

What's the story? Tell me in 3 or more sentences what this article is actually about. What is its focus?

The video I found is an effective example of science communication about mathematics, specifically how the fibonacci sequence and the golden ratios are seen in nature. This is a good example of integration of scientific and mathematical concepts that have real life, tangible examples that people can relate to or believe in because they can see or touch it. This shows that the video is a good science communication media because it is specific, yet fundamentally understandable enough by children with enough mathematical skills.
The video I found with an ineffective example of science communication about math has the same topic, the golden rati and the fibonacci sequence, but the contents of the video are more illustrative and people who do not have enough knowledge about the illustrated concepts may not be able to understand without context. For example, if the video is presented without the title or the caption, the video can just be seen as just visually attractive and not informative enough...
