The strategic plan is developed and there is an explicit roadmap that is intended to attain the vision. The plan is then put into action and the process of implementation is managed. The performance of the plan is also measured (Olsen, 2012). It is worth reiterating that the strategic goals for LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant are to update restaurant menus; increase the restaurant’s brand equity and awareness in the marketplace particularly in Texas; and introduce outdoor catering services to give customers the options of visiting the restaurant for their meal or have their orders delivered to them wherever they are.
To evaluate whether the strategic goal is actually being met, the method that would be used involves comparing the outcome or result that is attained with the goals that were set to find out whether or not those goals have been attained or are being attained. Specific metrics that would be utilized in evaluating the success of the implementation include the following: outcome measures – these are essentially the result of whether or not the services provided by the organization in fact meet the proposed standards or targets and demonstrate impact and benefit of activities (Forest, 2011). For LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant, the outcome measure includes percentage increase in number of new and updated food items. Since one of the strategic goals is to update the restaurant’s food menus, it is expected that new food items would be introduced in the menus to satisfy the various needs of customers who want new types of foods such as some Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Hawaiian, Alaskan, Colombian and French foods.
