Develop a 3–4 page (plus the cover page and reference page) outline of pre-departure training with a thorough description and explanation of the training programs that you suggest for improving expatriate performance.
Your assignment must address the following:
• Articulate the training needs of new expatriate employees and the components of pre-departure training that will address those needs.
• Determine the areas of emphasis and the details of the training.
• Describe how the training will improve the expatriate experience for the new assignment.
• Provide citations and references from the textbook and a minimum of two sources found on the Strayer databases at the Strayer Library.

Employees carry the image of the company wherever they go (Gatignon-Turnau & Mignonac, 2015). Therefore, good training is a fundamental activity to undertake in ensuring that employees have the best knowledge and skills to perform their designated tasks. The successful transition for expatriate employees often includes selection, pre-departure training, on-way support, and repatriation. Selection involves picking the best employees for the international assignment. Pre-departure involves training and retraining the selected employees for the assignment. The primary reason for pre-departure training is to ensure the selected employees are in a position to execute the company's objectives fully. There is also a need to support the employees in their assignments to ensure they have all resources necessary to execute their duty successfully. Finally, repatriation is where the employees are going for the international assignment return.
Training needs
It is vital to justify why training is necessary (Stanulović, 2017). Training, therefore, will identify the roles and duties of the expatriates. Marriot's case is sending its employees abroad to ensure they accomplish specific company objectives and ensure the company makes building a positive international brand image. Marriot has to ensure that all the employees know their specific responsibilities while on the assignment to ensure that they reap the best from the assignment. Thus, the employees need to know their responsibilities for the assignment.
Training enhances flexibility and integration in the new working environment. Wang and Varma (2019) argue that one factor that reduces employee productivity is a change in the working environment. There is a need to ensure that the expatriates become familiar with the new systems and the environments they are going to work. The environmental difference is mainly on culture variation between the home and the host countries (Wang & Varma, 2019). For instance, people use chopsticks to eat in China, while most African countries prefer to use bare hands or forks. Therefore, training will help the employees work on their behavioral and emotional flexibility and recognize and respect the new laws they are going to encounter.
Training ensures that the employees quickly adapt to the new language and skills during their host country assignment. The local people always make most customers in a hotel (Minh et al., 2015). It becomes necessary for the employees to learn the culture of the people in the host country so that they are equipped to serve the people well and promote the Marriot Hotel's image. It includes learning essential words of the popular languages in that country.
