In learning and development, Kaiser Permanente provides continued learning and advancement opportunities that will help in achieving the goals to both its patient and employees. It provides distance-learning opportunities to nurses and this helps them to advance their skills. In its new learning management system, which is for online education, it offers instruction in a various non-clinical topics for its employees. It has education and training centers in Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Mid-Atlantic States, Northwest and Ohio. Kaiser Permanente provides financial aid to students in terms scholarship, student loans, and work study; this is offered as fellowship where students work and get paid, while they study.
QBS Model:
Kaiser Permanente has a QBS model which trains its employees for language services; they provide forty eight language services across the country. It aims at delivering equitable healthcare for its ethnically and linguistically different members. The staffs and physicians are able to communicate with more than 130 languages.
Safety:
Kaiser Permanente has come up with safety patient improvement programs. The programs are aimed at accomplishing six strategic goals. This includes safe culture, safe support systems, safe care, safe staff, safe place, and safe patients. A safe culture is achieved by the staff and physicians since they are able to report any error occurring during the patients care; indeed it enhances communication that ensures patients are well attended to. Safe culture is also measured by a safety attitude questionnaire, which is administered to assess the efficiency of the staff.
Kaiser Permanente aims at avoiding inpatient and outpatient medication error and enhancing quality member care.
