The Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath
The chosen character is the Wife of Bath who claims that happy marriages are only possible if the wife has supremacy over her husband. It is the preferred tale because a lot of marriages today fail due to various reasons.
Ellen and Martin are a happily married couple living in Manhattan with 2 kids. They have a good life, eat clean food, can send their children to top schools, and they are well-acquainted with important people. Despite their success and achievements as a married couple, they still lack something and that is the balance between themselves.
Martin likes to give way to his wife’s demands thinking that it is what will keep his wife happy. On the other hand, Ellen is an alpha female who wants challenge from her husband not in terms of finances, but someone who could challenge her mind. They are both intelligent, but sometimes Martin thinks it is the best way.
After a few years, they start to become distant and it impacts their kids, so they attend a couple’s therapy session to know what they need to work on. Ellen is finally able to tell Martin what she wants to keep things interes...
