Discussion of the Process of Writing Each Paper
While writing the response to Connected but Alone, I encountered a few problems which made the writing process a bit difficult but fun as well. The paper challenged me but I purposed to complete it and forward a high quality assignment. The requirements were that I pick six issues addressed in the video and write a review while also factoring in my thoughts and opinions on the same. Analysis is indeed not my strongest suit but after watching the video several times, it became easier to write because I had understood a majority of what was addressed. While watching the clip, I had formulated a few questions and these helped me to have an opinion on the topic being discussed in the video.
Writing requires work and one has to purpose to become a better writer for it to happen. This I learnt while discussing Richard Marius’s A Writer’s Companion and Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird. The former discusses the gist of writing and opines that writing takes effort. The latter, on the other hand, gives us her experience in writing reviews. On this particular assignment, I was required to summarize the main points being communicated and also include specific examples from the two texts. Citing is not an easy feat and one is expected to ensure their text perfectly coincides with the quote they are using. Therefore, writing this paper was quite challenging especially when it comes to citing but in the end I delivered.
In my next article, I was required to use the ideas of another article to develop my essay. The requirements were that I take the theory of Drenten and use it in my case study. Writing this paper had its challenges especially with identifying the author’s theory or main argument and then applying the same in my case study. I had to re-read the article but eventually I managed to gather enough material to write my paper.
My fourth article was literature review and I was expected to read an article by Wilhelm Jeffrey and then conduct research with the aim of constructing an argument with a focus on a selected activity. This paper required me to personify an article by thinking of an activity which has impacted my life in a positive sense. Analyzing the article or summarizing the article was not difficult but I had to go further and find an activity that coincided with the story presented in the article. The analysis process was not demanding but I had to finding a correlation or common ground with a real life situation was quite a tussle.
My last article was not as challenging as the others because here I was focusing on something people do and one whose benefits are open and easily discernible. Writing or even researching this article on Running and its benefits was fun because some of the points I wrote did not need any research. The benefits of running are public knowledge and it would be an understatement to say I enjoyed writing this paper.
