Convective weather activity involves the upward transfer of hot air and moisture from the surface to the atmosphere. The phenomenon occurs at sunrise, where the heat from the sun causes the surface temperatures to increase. Then through the process of conduction, the upward air layers are heated, leading them to rise to higher altitudes (Houze, 2014). Surface areas such as pavements, rocks, and sands get heated faster than vegetation or water-covered environments. Another critical feature of convective weather is that the process is accelerated during hotter temperatures. This is because more vigorous heating of the surface causes the rapid rise of air currents to the atmosphere. The lower atmospheric pressure then causes the heat and moisture present in the air to condense, forming water vapor.
