A Streetcar Named Desire
streetcar named desire is one of the best novels in the world which through its exciting play, we get to learn a lot from it. There are various different characters in the play who participate in different roles and, at the same time portraying different images. In this novel, we get to know the bad or evil; the kindness and generosity brought out by characters in various scenes. Blanche DuBois is one of the main characters in the play, and she goes through a lot. The hostile environment around her makes her develop an evil character that makes other people who interact with her get hurt in one way or the other. This discussion gives an overview on how evil is brought out by Blanche in the play, which can still be sympathized due to her poor life.
Blanche portrays the image of how alcohol had a bad influence on women. After her family and relatives die whipping out her only inheritance, she becomes depressed and develops the habit of drinking to relieves stress. “I can't stand a naked light bulb, any more than I can a rude remark or a vulgar action. (Williams, p. 60)”. In this statement Blanche take the truth referring to the naked bulb. Despite having a tough time, she can’t stand it because she feels guilty herself for being so careless and immoral in her life. She feels bitter of her life for failing to manage it herself. The light shows despite having a bad life behind, she still has hope to live for. Her sexual der=sires played a major destruction of her life in addition to her drunkard life. The sexual desires and her drunkenness made her get into an affair with a student, something that made her directly lose her job as a school teacher. Blanche had no dignity at all. She exchanges men from time to time without minding the public image of herself. She portrays a big image of immorality to the public. Later in the play, we get to discover that her late husband committed suicide when he found her ...
