The Development of the American Economy
After decades of the growing division between the regions of the United States of America, with increasing issues regarding slavery and modernization, the American Civil War eventually took place. Following the bloody events of the American Civil War arises a new age for its people. Different industries and businesses were developed as well as different job opportunities for laborers. Due to the continuous expansion of various industries, laborers from other countries were also enticed to migrate to the United States of America which in turn provided cheaper labor fees and greater profit for the companies, supporting the economic growth of all the large-scale modernized companies during their time (Weber, 2020). However, the economic advancements, especially of the big companies, also had its downside to the people in the community, with their low wages and extreme working conditions, which eventually led to the formation of labor unions to speak against the injustices that is happening to the laborers.
Post-American Civil War age celebrated a lot of innovations and discoveries during their time. These include the invention of railway systems which boosted the economic status by decreasing the travel cost and travel time and increasing the efficiency of factories, assisting the whole process from the collection of raw materials to the distribution of finished products. The railways also enabled the people to be able to travel more, having an impact also in the management of the different states which were previously seen as a disadvantage due to its increased size of lands but became more accessible due to the railroads connecting the states.
