It's 1913 and you are in your fifteenth consecutive term as mayor of Smoot, a booming English metropolis (or so your advertizing claims). It's election time and there are those who believe that you've been mayor long enough and that your party, the Conservative Liberals (who've been in power since 1808), should be booted out and replaced by your opponents, the Liberal Conservatives. Write an editorial for your party's paper, The Semi-Independent, in which you defend your party (and your record). To do this, you should point out that yours is the Party of Progress and think how you can show that, before your party came to power, Smoot was medieval in look, with no manufacturing beyond those out-of-date guilds, and none of the modern conveniences, like clean water and street cars. But look at it today! (Some may attack the purple river and the lack of wealth-sharing—how can you explain those as part of progress?)

We are Smoot at heart, the beauty of the liberties that our forefathers fought for. Our rich heritage is what unites as a progressive people. Together we can grow even further, as we have all the potential that we need now and in the future. To see effective transport systems, quality and adequate amenities. we have made quite some significant progress in our city and we look forward to the amazing things that we will bring to our children.
Conservative Liberals has been one of the major driving force and partner with the people of Smoot. This is a party that has seen subtle grow in the city and looking to make even more progress for the people. Today there are better streets and we can move around with ease and accomplish more. We now have clean water running through our taps (Seglin, 2017). The manufacturing industry are expanding, creating more jobs and goods that we then sell across the nation and even abroad. These are positive notes that we all take pride in as a people and the fact that you as a people have had faith in us to bring Smoot to world class destination.
