Certain words have a defined denotation, but through connotation, they convey strong emotions. As such, it essential to understand the connotative meaning of different words. The discussion centers on six words that have definite denotation but also convey strong emotion through connotation. Blue is a word that is a word used to describe a specific color. However, individuals can use the word blue to express how they are feeling. Usually, people say that they feel blue to signify that they are sad or unhappy (Rao, 2017).
Therefore, it is used to express a person’s emotions. The snake usually refers to a reptile that has no legs. However, people can refer to other people as snakes, depending on how they relate. An individual can say that a person is a snake to mean that they are harmful and dangerous (Rao, 2017). They use this expression to indicate their feelings towards the said individual.
