Should a Woman Have Her Husband Permission to Get a Job?
Men and women are equal in the eyes of law. Both genders have the right to engage in any form of business or seek employment. However, according to the World Bank research on barriers to women's employment and entrepreneurship many countries have laws impeding women's economic opportunities. There are many differences between men and women on legal rights to register companies, own property, travel internationally, and open bank accounts. Factually, determination on whether to get into business or employment rests on the party deciding to venture into the job market, and can only seek advice or consultation from the other party.
Restriction to work is bad for the economy. Married and unmarried women represent over half of the world's population. Therefore, restricting women's decision-making on economic issues and subjecting their wishes to the will of their fiancées or husbands is a retrogressive move. Families cannot afford to leave their potential untapped because of mere chauvinistic views and patriarch cultural opinions. Even in places where the law fails to protect women against exclusion from financial opportunities, and violence; it is fundamental to observe both gender careers grow and financial opportunities.
