In York, Toronto there lives a small family of two children living with their both parents. The first born child is a girl of 6 years and the second born child is a boy of 4 years. The two children go to a nearby school. The parents are normally busy working in the city, both parents working as senior accountants in different banks. Because the parents come home a late, owing to their demanding jobs, they have employed a stayed-at-home nanny who takes care of the children when they come back from school. Of much concern, both the children and parents feel that they do not spend enough time with each other and this seem to affect the children. Sometimes, the children complain of not being assisted by the parents in their homework assignments; most of the time, the parents delegate such roles to the nanny, who does not connect well with the children. The children rely on their teachers at school to help them with their learning development. The whole situation has been stressful to both the parents and the children.
As an early childhood educator, I would advise the parents to seek some help from early childhood education programs existing within the region. Such programs expose children to education/ learning-enabling environment where they interact more with their peers and other care givers/educators who help children develop their learning capabilities that pertain to cultural, social, cognitive, biological and emotional issues (Pianta, Barnett, Sheridan, &  Justice, 2015).
