Arranging art (visuals) and copy (text) (Links to an external site.)in a medium is a skill that you must master to create unique communication pieces. Negative space (Links to an external site.) is the key, it leads the pace of the composition and sometimes even tricks the eye. Playing with negative space and leveraging it to your advantage (Links to an external site.) is an excellent way to gain a lot of attention for a design piece.
Select 3 communication pieces (posters and logos are the best) that each uses negative space in a unique, brilliant and unconventional way. The shapes could create invisible elements/shapes, make you think of another shape/idea... but they all create some magic. Explain how each approach enhances the composition and creates a unique relationship playing with the foreground and the background.

In a word document insert the image and explain how playing with space lead to unique compositions. Save it as a PDF and upload the final document.
Use hierarchy (big/bold titles, medium subtitles) for your copy.
Pay attention to the design of the document, if you are aligning images to the left, align all of them to the left.

This poster is very creative as it used the elements in the ampersand symbol, which signifies “and”, to create the image of the two elements that it connects which are coffee and cigarettes. The black font of the symbol is perfect in highlighting the cup and its handle, as it adds two black lines at the right end of the symbol to create the image of a cigarette end. The color of the overall poster highlights a cream-ish white theme that almost looks like cigarette paper or the cream in coffee. The images created were not drawn but rather created through the absence of color of tone, which is the negative space. The element that best highlights the subject title is how it was able to use a single symbol to create two subjects that are a combo with each other. The simplicity of this poster is the key to its outstanding design.
In this poster, the image of a sleeping princess is created through the specific shape of the negative space created in the night sky.
