I can firmly attest that I have in several occasions harbored and shared similar sentiments concerning the school system with my friends. I believe that it is wrong to label other individuals foolish or dumb just because they failed to meet the “desired or ideal” academic grades. In many societies around the globe, academic excellence has been given precedence with those individuals who excel being treated with admiration and respect. On the other hand, persons who are academically daft are deemed failures and their bleak futures determined. My opinion and as echoed in the video clip is that everyone is a genius and it is not prudent using academic tests to gauge and determine one’s ability in life. I relate this with a personal story of my brother who while being academically-deficient and continuously attained abysmal grades, has achieved immense success because of his athletic prowess. The challenges he had in class comprehending mathematical equations, bonds and anatomy among others he more than made up for on the field. His teammates consider him a genius because of his ability to unlock defenses using detailed passes in a way no other player can do.
Despite the success he has achieved, proponents of modern-day schooling still look down on him because of his academic failure. Little do they know or understand that they are all geniuses and it is just that they are exceptional in different fields.
