1 08 The Great Pyramids – Secret in Plain Sight
1 This video shows how art and science intersect in the cultural artifacts of the past. While there are many conspiracies about how past architectural wonders were created, what makes them intriguing is how “contemporary mathematics” coincides with the dimensions of these ancient architectural structures despite the gap between the inception of each one of them. Nevertheless, these ancient masterpieces such as the Pyramids challenges humanity’s previous misconceptions about the scientific knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians. As discovered from the tombs, some of the major shafts of the tomb were pointed precisely at the stars Orion and Sirius, which is also their deities for the underworld and the afterlife. All in all, what this shows is that ancient Egyptians were capable of such impressive feats that mix both architecture and natural sciences in exquisite detail.
2 Old Kingdom: Seated Scribe
2 The seated scribe is one of the exciting sculptures that were made during the time of the Egyptians. This is because while the artistic culture of Ancient Egypt is usually dominated by the pictorial traditions such as that of the hieroglyphs, this particular piece was made from a stone statue having a three-dimensional structure. Aside from this, what made this interesting is the fact that this statue is different from the theme of most structures during those times, which is formal, conservative, and divine. As compared to other detailed pieces during those times, the proportions of the Seated Scribe was made to more human-like as compared to others. This could have depicted the difference between the physical characteristics of the deities (including the pharaoh) and the humans.
