Are human beings becoming too dependent on technology?
In the contemporary world, technology has become common place more than ever before. Advancement in technology has been beneficial towards improving efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Nonetheless, there are drawbacks to depending on technology especially the way people communicate in the virtual world with little regard to human emotions. Technology has improved convenience while also reducing the workload for people in various facets of their lives. However, since technology has become interwoven with people’s daily lives, there is a need to explore how technology has influenced people’s lives negatively. This paper supports the view that we have become to dependent on technology.
Human beings use technology in their daily lives sometimes even without realizing this. Overreliance on technology is simply a feature of modernity and the contemporary world, where automation and technology are identified as being necessary in life. In any case, there are various economic benefits that accrue when relying on technology in the workplace. As such, the workplace has become over reliant on technology to boost productivity and eliminate inefficiencies. This includes the roles such as manufacturing to communication, highlighting that technology use is widespread
Consumerism has also resulted to dependence on technology given that people are concerned with buying the latest gadgets. For technology companies innovation is critical to improving their sales, while marketing of many innovative products has targeted specific groups by highlighting on their innovative technology. For instance, consumers demand improvement in latest gadgets, and this combined with the need for company’s growth influence development technology especially in electronic gadgets and handsets, companies utilize cutting edge technology to woo more consumers, and there is a cycle where consumers keep asking for better products depending on new technological features. It is as though people re increasingly being controlled by the technology in quest to own the latest gadgets.
Some sections of current generation are dependent on technology, and there are youths and young adults who are addicted to technology.
