I am Chinese and I am a Taoist. Taoism is one of the most ancient religions in the world dating to about 400 years before the birth of Christianity. The reason that I adhere to the Taoist worldview is that it is the most flexible religion one can ever encounter. It is not dogmatic and can adapt to about any other religion in the world because of the universality of its principles. In fact Taoism can blend with any religion because it does not dogmatically define God as do many other religions. The fact remains that almost all major religions says that they know God and some even claim that they know God’s name. The reality is that the reality of God is so great that nobody can really define and even know God. Our little minds in our little earth in the big wide universe are not capable of contemplating the reality of God. Taoists simply says that Tao is everything and even nothing and it cannot be defined.
The first principle of the Chinese worldview is that of Yin and Yang. This principle is so universal that no religion could deny its truth. Yin and Yang is the unity and struggle of opposites which is present not only in every religion but everywhere in the universe. Every day you have night and day. Atoms have positive and negative particles. In other religions, there is heaven and hell, reward and punishment, good and bad and all kinds of opposites.
