The previous week, I got a chance to read textbook Making Sense: A Real-World Rhetorical Reader by Cheryl Glenn and Jessica Enoch. One of its chapters features an essay called Virtual Friendship and the New Narcissism, which is about how people interact with each other in the modern world. Here, the authors described that there is a trend of communicating with friends and family through social media. Instead of calling them on mobile phones, people choose to convey their messages through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social networking sites.
