Week 3: Assignment
Culture is a collective term that defines most aspects and features of life in a given group. These features can distinguish groups, and they include language, religion, social behaviors and habits, music, arts, way of dressing, and cuisine, among others. It is essential to understand the concept of culture, embrace it, and recognize its role in our society. A culture is a form of diversity and a way of life: people are so diverse around the globe, and if we recognize our inherent cultural diversity, it is possible to heal social ills like racism, prejudice, and discrimination.
White people do have culture and a unique way of life. It is more than just the color of being white. The white race is ordinarily associated with people from Britain. Most whites cherish arts, vegetables, and alcohol, among others.
African is a race because the idea of race was conceived based on the regions. Thus, if one originates from Asia, he or she will be called Asian. Therefore, Asian is a race too.

The Lunar New Year is also called the Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival is a crucial festival for everyone. The Chinese New Year marks a new year on the lunar calendar and denotes a desire for a new life. This cultural event is characterized by decorations, eating reunion dinner with family on New Year's Eve, firecrackers and fireworks, and giving of gifts. Thus, Lunar New Year offers an opportunity like no other to cherish, reflect, celebrate refresh on life.

Stereotyping is a generalization with assumptions; for example, one may perceive someone from a particular religion as a terrorist because there may have been a few cases of terrorist suspects from that religion.
Norms refer to expectation or standards of a given phenomenon. For example, a given group may perceive their cultural practices as the gold standards and expect others to follow such standards, and as well view others who do not subscribe to such measures as inferior. Thus, the norm becomes a form of mental oppression.
Week 2: Assignment
The contemporary societies then classify people both consciously and unconsciously based on place of origin, color, ethnicity, gender, religion, and political affiliation, among others. Based on this categorization, a particular group or groups may feel that they are more dominant and superior than others. The community, in most cases, is divided along multiple lines. For instance, stereotyping, prejudice, or discrimination that is based on race is called racism. Gender prejudice is often called sexism. Discrimination results from is prejudice, which is an irrational pre-formed negative judgment or attitude. Prejudice is a fo...
