How can we eliminate the danger of conflict and war?
We need to identify and target the specific root causes of conflict and violence. It is essential to appreciate that conflict and war is a complex process, which needs a timely approach in every circumstance. As a result, conflict and war prevention activities should be based on analysis that considers a variety of sources. Additionally, there is a need to ensure inclusive political, economics and communities (Stewart 344). Marginalization has remained a major cause of conflict and war hence the need to have a long-term strategy of ensuring inclusivity. People need to feel that they belong to the community. Individuals need to be allowed to participate in issues affecting their communities. Economic empowerment will ensure that people can engage in productive activities.
How can we reduce crime and disease?
Crime can be reduced by having a national strategy to address poverty and improving neighborhood living conditions. Poverty is a major driver towards committing crimes hence creating decent-paying jobs will address the issue. Additionally, there should be changes in the criminal justice system to assist in reducing repeat offending (Berenji, Tom and Maria). For instance, having drug offenders in community corrections would minimize the number of inmates.
Regarding preventing disease, we need to implement policies aimed at prevention. Encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyles will be critical. For instance, minimizing sugar and fat intake will assist in reducing obesity which is associated with a variety of diseases (Chan and Jean 772). Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that people get vaccinated. This will reduce the chances of contracting many diseases.
How can we reduce poverty?
The first approach is creating job opportunities. People need to engage in meaningful employment so that they can have income sources to support themselves. Additionally, the government needs to raise the minimum wage. The minimum wage remains relatively low which subjects a majority of workers to poverty (Dube 9). Increasing the minimum wage will ensure that more employees can work towards alleviating themselves from poverty. Thirdly, we need to facilitating access to credit facilities. More individuals would like to engage in business but they are unable to find the capital to start a business. Enabling such individuals to access credit facilities will enable them to start businesses. This will create an income stream for the owners, while at the same time creating employment for other people.
How can we achieve equality between women and men?
Ensuring equal access to opportunities for both men and women is critical for achieving equality.
