What My Show Is?
Having seen how man’s activities continue to deplete the earth, it is crucial that more shows are developed to help sensitize people and enhance the message regarding climate change and its effects. My show is thus one that is centered on showcasing the world’s beauty and the looming danger as a result of man’s activities. Numerous places on earth continue to lose their beauty mainly because mankind continues to expand his activities while creating more wealth. A good example is The Chacaltaya Glacier in Bolivia. Matias (np) notes that the Chacaltaya was either one of the highest or the highest world ski resort. Those who visited it could ski at 17,888 feet while also being intoxicated by the views of Lake Titicaca. This resort had won the hearts of many people and was known worldwide. Skiing used to happen in the summer, but by 2009, the glacier had melted, and the world’s highest ski resort was no more. Such a story is distressing but at the same time motivating because it encourages me to be more vigilant and create a show that informs, explores, and warns of man’s continued harm to the environment. My show is thus seeking to tell the beautiful story about nature and the environment while also sensitizing people regarding their role in destroying the earth.
What does the show have to offer?
The show has plenty to offer with the first thing being the earth’s beauty. Having watched a show like Planet Earth which is produced by the BBC, I have come to understand the importance of filming the beauty of the earth. The earth has some of the most beautiful sites that unless shared or given some airtime will never be acknowledged. African countries, for example, have some of the most beautiful sceneries in the world. There are places which are only enjoyed by the locals, and their stories never get to be told at the global stage. However, I believe that these should be given time and opportunities on the global stage and I believe that this show will be a channel through which people get to experience the hidden beauty of the earth.
Secondly, the show will also feature the cultures of the local people and their initiatives towards helping protect the environment. The participants of the reality show will have to interact and learn a bit of the local life. The goal here would be to introduce people to different cultures with the aim of bridging cultural gaps that apparently persist to this day. By having the participants take part in the culture of the locals, the show will be introducing the viewers to other ways and forms of life. The goal of the show is to provoke a spirit of caring, and this can only be done if the participants showcase themselves as people who care.
What issues/problems does it address in today’s society?
The first problem this reality show will seek to address will be climate change. World leaders have not yet agreed on a solution that to help save the planet earth. The lack of harmony among the world leaders is cause for concern because it means that it will be a while before the world does something meaningful to combat climate change.
