The pictures taken show that the galaxy mainly falls within a thin strip, which is the panorama where most of the galaxy is viewed (NASA). At 2: 16 the video highlights that the results represent more than 2.5 million snapshots that had been taken over a decade for a total of 172 days (NASA). This is the clearest indication that the astronomers used the Spitzer Space Telescope to obtain data set that was useful to understanding the galaxies. As astronomers rely on what has been captured, they can make more observations after identifying the different stars and galaxies. The Spitzer is useful as it covers large areas and combined with the James Webb Space Telescope, it will be possible to get clear infrared observations.
Many of the images from the GLIMPSE360 project not only map the galaxy, but also guide astronomers and the public has access to some of the images. In the video, the images from the Spitzer Space Telescope are in the GLIMPSE360 project, providing information on the galaxy planes to better understand star formation. Using the telescopes with infrared capabilities provides more accurate images of the galaxy to map the different bodies and study star formation (NASA). The Spitzer Space Telescope has been valuable for providing clear images of the Milky Way and the large photo set is spectacular even as the pictures have been collected over a decade.
