For the written portion of this assignment, you will use an online data analysis tool at UC - Berkeley to investigate how men and women of different educational levels think about the proper way to allocate paid leave. The respondents were responding to the following question:
“Still thinking about the same couple, if both are in a similar work situation and are eligible for paid leave, how should this paid leave period be divided between the mother and the father?
Mother should take the entire paid leave period and the father should not take any paid leave.
The mother should take most of the paid leave period and the father should take some of it.
The father and mother should each take half of the paid leave period.
The father should take most of the paid leave period and the mother should take some of it.”

Paid Leave Analysis
1. The dependent variable in this analysis is the percentage of male and female taking a paid leave. This variable depends on the response of the participants in the analysis and the chart shows there is a significant difference between them.
The independent variable in this analysis is the length of time the study is for. This cannot be changed because there is only an allotted time to finish the analysis and get significant results.
The controlled variable in this analysis is the gender of the participants which is male and female because paid leave can be acquired by both genders, with some limitations.
2. The educational attainment affects the result because there are some changes in the response of those who did not finish school. There is a huge disparity in the access of paid leave, and it is significantly low for workers that are less educated, and low-income earners. The gap in the benefits are to compensate groups that are less or more advantaged, which should be given attention to because it goes further than income and paid leave inequality.
