Coronavirus Disease (COVID-2019)
Coronavirus Disease (COVID-2019) is an unfortunate phenomenon. It will entrench itself in history as a disastrous pandemic that causes chaos across the whole globe. I perceive it as a scary disease that has threatened out livelihoods and daily way of life. It is quite sad to see people die prematurely, people losing their jobs, and our usual social life and interactions becoming a luxury. We have missed classes, and we no longer enjoy teacher-student typical interactions. We are conducting learning via internet technologies.
I feel that the world would never be the same again. We will forever live with the scars that COVID-19 has inflicted on us if we are lucky to live and see the future. I am currently in a constant wave of worry for myself, family, friends, and everyone else who matters. Anytime I meet some and, afterward, feel slight body warm, cold, cough, or flu, the idea of COVID-19 infection seems to pop into my mind automatically. When I think of those with chronic diseases, certain illnesses, the less privileged, and the seniors, my heart skips a beat. It isn't comforting to hear everything on mortalities that are witnessed at hospitals and homes.
Currently, we are faced with uncertainty in almost everything. We are not sure when the economy, normal schoolings, and social activities, among others, could resume. The experts are at crossroads, for example, we have not witnessed any universal agreements on various practices and progresses like wearing masks, the efficiency of the drugs, and vaccine production, among others. Conspiracy theories have also worsened the situation: some feel the virus could have been manufactured, and others perceived the disease as not dangerous if they are young and have no underlying illness. But it is quite worrying because even some young, healthy individuals have died under mysterious circumstances after contracting the disease.
Amidst these challenges and uncertainty, we should remain hopeful that things will change for the better. I am optimistic that we might, fortunately, find a vaccine and develop immunity to this virus, though the disease appears to live with us for longer times. It is crucial for us not to lose hope but to build resiliency to fight this disease and find alternative, innovative, and creative ways of continuing with life.
