Differences in Perception: Police Violence Against Black Women VS Black Men
Violence against people of color is a significant matter during the 21st century. The treatment to them, especially by the government officials and peace officers, is somewhat different from that of the White people. This has been an issue since the early ages and society has done measures to purge these acts. One of the most abused races is Black people. However, even among them, there is a difference in the treatment among genders.
The difference in the “maltreatments” began during the American Great Depression when the White men gradually lose their confidence. This led to countless aggressions against the Black women, who at the time, where highly engaged in slavery, theft, and prostitution. This made the White police officers increase their aggression toward the Black women who are weaker than the Black men.
Generally, women also receive less attention than men when it comes to abuses. This also applies between the Black Americans or the Africans. Even among the Black population, there is a prejudice that exists, turning women (and transwomen) insignificant species. Additionally, reports are often central to the physically-abused men than their women counterparts, even among the Black population. This happens because women are often treated as invisible beings who have less importance to society even after several generations.
