Comparison between China and America
There are several similarities and differences that exist between China and America. These differences promote diversity, and they help visitors from both countries to be wary of what to expect when they make their visits.
Continent
One of the most striking differences between China and America is the geographical location. China is in Asia while America is in North America (Graphic, Inc). It shows that the two countries are quite a distant apart.
Language
The main language that Americans use is English. In China, the main language is Mandarin (Graphic, Inc). An American who would like to visit China should find it interesting to learn a new language. Similarly, Chinese tourists in America would have a chance to learn English.
Currency
Chinese use Chinese Yuan as their currency while Americans use a Dollar as a medium of exchange (Graphic, Inc). A chinese who makes a visit to America cannot transact using a Yuan, but they can exchange it with a dollar, which is widely acceptable in America.
Cities
The capital city of China is Beijing while the capital city of America is Washington DC (Graphic, Inc). However, the largest city in China is Shanghai and the Americans deem New York as the biggest city in America.
Government
The Americans use a federal republic system of government while the Chinese use a communist government system (Graphic, Inc). The federal system allows one to consume what they produce, but the Chinese communist system holds that production and consumption is a collective element. The Chinese government has 2,987 legislative members while the American government has 535 legislative members. China is not a member of the OECD while America participates as a member in the organization. However, both countries are permanent members of the Security Council.
Gross Domestic Product
Both America and China rank at the top in the global GDP levels. America has the highest GDP in the world with a value of $18 trillion US Dollars (Graphic, Inc). China takes the second place globally as a country with the highest GDP where its value is $11 trillion US Dollars. However, China leads in GDP growth rate of 6.91 percent. The American growth rate is 2.6 percent.
Unemployment
Unemployment rate in America is high at 6.2 percent in comparison with the Chinese, which is 4.7 percent (Graphic, Inc). It means that one can find many unemployed people in America than in China.
Demographics
China leads in demographics when compared with America. China has a population of 1.37 billion people while America has a population of 321 million people (Graphic, Inc). China leads in the global demographic statistics and America occupies the third position in the same statistics. On population density, China has 146.1 people per square kilometer while America has 35.14 people per square kilometer. The median age in China is 36.8 years while America has a median age of 37.8 years.
