Chuang Tzu is one of the most influential philosophers in China. He managed to produce comprehensive and transcendental and deeply immersed in day-to-day lives. Many aspects show that everyday life influenced Chuang Tzu as an individual moving through the world. Notably, there are many aspects related to mysticism that are showcased in diverse elements of nature. Through his philosophical concepts, Chuang Tzu’s position was majorly Taoist, in which specific mystical learning and outlooks become transcendental through his philosophical exposition. The paper aims to evaluate the idea of freedom in nature and society based on Chuang Tzu’s philosophical leanings. It must be acknowledged that freedom is an aspect people have to deal with in their daily experiences. In this regard, the meaning of freedom must always be understood from the primary source of freedom. Chuang Tzu is known for the interpretation and analysis of the idea of freedom. With the Chou royal declining and the surrounding environment becoming chaos, many people despised the ritual systems and appraised power and personal fame. There was also a life regarded as Autumn and Spring that was lived by Chuang Tzu (Chen 104). In this aspect, the community was undervaluing the rites and traditions. Moreover, the emergence of wars also led to people advocating for power, which had a significant influence on the traditions and ideologies of the people in the society. These experiences made Chuang Tzu doubt the idea of freedom and mandated the need to curate a philosophy. In order to transform the chaos of the external world, it was vital to change the minds of people (Merton 80). Therefore, there was a need to have proper measures to ensure that freedom was attained in the heart, which later projects outdoor life. Through his philosophical propositions, it is also clear that Chuang Tzu also had very different positions compared to other philosophers. He never focused on reality but concentrate on a long-cherished wish beyond the realities of everyday life.
