Movie Analysis “Save The Last Dance”
Save the last dance is a movie about a white girl from the mid-west named Sara Johnson. The film revolves around Sara’s social life, which involves her lifetime ballet training. Sara's life is hard and complicated since she lost her mother in her unsuccessful audition (Cressman and Julianna 11). After the incidence of losing her mother, she gives up her ballet training. The film is about finding salvation on the dance stage. Psychology refers to the study of the human mind and behavior. It involves social behavior, human development stages, sports, and health.
One of the psychological stages that Sara faces is the adolescent stage. After losing her mother in a traffic accident, Sara is forced to live her father in Chicago. There she lives in a ghetto neighborhood where she meets new friends and classmates (Cressman and Julianna 23). Sara’s life becomes difficult and strange since she goes to a school where she is barely the only white. Life seems harsh to her at the time due to the changes in her body and situations. Adolescence is the stage where she gets to define herself as an adult. Sara’s transition from childhood to adulthood comes with other life challenges, such as losing her mother. In a society of different people and new surroundings, Sara tries very hard to fit in. Sara goes to a high school where she is the only white girl in her class.
