Uses of Statistics
Although statistics have always been present in one aspect of my life or another, the course equips me with theoretical and practical insights into inferential measures such as mean, deviation, and variance. Uses of statistics include forecasting the weather, predicting consumer behaviors, learning disease patterns, and making everyday decisions (Larson and Farber 31). With the information, I can prepare for a rainy day by carrying an umbrella, shop early in case prices are likely to skyrocket, and wear warm clothing during winter so I do not catch flu.
