SOME CHEM CALCULATION
Equation
NaOH (aq) + 2HCL (aq) → NaCL (aq) + H2O (l) + Heat
A reaction between an acid and a base (neutralization reaction) results to the formation of salt, water and heat. The theoretical value of the heat liberated in the reaction is -56.8kj per mole of water. Heat capacity of a calorimeter is calculated by dividing the heat absorbed by degree of temperature change
Doubling the volume of the sodium hydroxide will double the mass and this will result to increase in the heat capacity of the calorimeter.
Calculation
Molar heat of neutralization
-q = total mass × specific heat capacity × change in temperature
Mass of NaoH=54.25 × 2 =108.49g
Mass of HCL= 50 × 1 = 50g
Total mass = mass of NaOH + mass of HCL (108.49+50)
=158...
