MNGT 3100 Principles of Management Project #2 Fall 2019 This project must be completed by groups of 3-5 students. The benefit of a group project is the discussion between group members, so don’t just divide the questions up and have each member answer a couple questions by themselves. Full credit will be awarded if the project is turned in on time, all questions are answered, and you worked on your responses together. PROJECT #2: Visit a local business or organization together On the top of the first page, list the name of the business/organization and the date(s) you went there, as well as the names of the members of your group. Then answer the questions below. Be sure to use complete sentences. I expect that your submissions will be about 1 page. 6. What do you believe to be their social, environmental, and/or economic goals? What should their goals include based on likely stakeholders’ interests? 7. Where do you believe decision-making occurs (centralization)? Did the business/organization appear to be tall or flat (hierarchical levels)? Do you believe they are/would be ready to adapt or be resistant to change, and why? 8. Using the organizational culture profile (OCP) categories, describe their culture. Give examples of cultural artifacts or rituals you observed. 9. Did you witness transformational or transactional leadership? Did you witness servant leadership? Describe the relationships between employees/members and managers/leaders. Based on your observations, were leadership styles appropriate for the setting? 10. Describe examples of the decision making in use during your visit. Is there a threat of groupthink in the organization? If so, what could be done to prevent it? Only one member from each group should turn in the finished project on Canvas. Deadline for project #2 is 11:00am on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
