Introduction
Business sustainability, quality production, as well as the minimization of waste during the production and the management process, and the production of quality goods has been the focus on a majority of the companies across the world. The sustainability, and the management of lean and quality, however, requires commitment and dedication by the company, which also requires that the company set straight agendas and goals to achieve the same. With the reduction in the waste during production, companies can thus enhance their competitive business sustainability within their respective areas. In this study, the major focus shall be the analysis of the management of lean and quality, based on the Nestlé case study. The study shall be a summary of the main issues in the case, analyzing the main positives then looking at what happened and why, and then give recommendations appropriately on the right action that can be taken to remedy or correct the situation.
Managing Lean and Quality
From the Nestlé case study, there are various issues which can be pointed out in the process of ensuring that there is the management of lean and the enhancement of quality in all the products produced within the company. There are various issues which have been emphasized in the general company production process, which includes the production of products which are safe, of high quality and also enhancing responsibility in the general production process. In order to ensure there are the responsibility and recognition of an individual’s position within the company’s chain of production, the company has put in place the Creating Shared Value (CSV), which is a system of ensuring that there is the creation of the social value.
The Nestlé Inc. has put into consideration the case of the management of lean, and thus, it has put in place there major initiatives, which are embraced under the ‘Nestlé in Society’, which also puts into consideration there major aspects of the society which include the: consideration of the nutrition, water as well as the rural development. There is also the aspect of ensuring that the local community is devoted towards the creation of a sustainable society, through the environmental sustainability, and the implementation process within the company, as well as the social welfare in various aspects. In the lean production process, waste has been produced, in regard to the number of resources used in the production process, the money as well as the manpower put into the production of certain goods and services. Through the case of Nestlé, there has been the adoption of the lean strategy, which is known as the Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE), and which has played a major role in ensuring that there is efficiency in the allocation, as well as the utilization of resources allocated.
