Wang Shuo Literature
Before he started writing Wang Shuo was a Navy for the People’s Liberation Army before he was fired for illegal trading. During his time in the army, he spent time womanizing and idling around the beach before doing other jobs and later landing a job in the pharmaceutical company. Due to his past life, Shuo writings involved characters who like him were uncaring about the values held by the society. The characters described lived by their own rules, reckless, violent and often engaged in crime. From his book “Rubber Man” he portrays the main character as a flexible person with no standards or principles of morality. Just like his real life, the protagonist is unemployed and seeks friendship from likeminded youths and together they pursue careers of trickery and deceptiveness.
