The Lamb and The Tyger by William Blake
William Blake is a spiritual poet, and in his poems, The Lamb and The Tyger, he expresses two different sides of the world and can be viewed as representations of light and dark, respectively. The poem The Tyger portrays cruelty and can be viewed as his way of expressing the evil in the world, especially when he compares the tiger’s eyes with fire (4 and 6). On the Contrary, The Lamb expressed gentleness and innocence, which is expressed through the warm clothing mentioned and the tender voice filled with joy (6 and 7). The poem portrays God as a tender and loving immortal being who created human beings to his likeness.
Blake uses allusion in The Lamb, as he indirectly uses the name “Lamb." “Lamb” in the second stanza is used to refer to Jesus (14). Also, symbolism is used in the poem to give a different meaning from the literal meaning. For instance, in the poem “The L...
