Government agencies are known for regulating the way people behave beyond personal freedom and basic rights. In regions where terrorism has taken root, government agencies fighting the criminals can easily cross the line of basic human rights. Despite the crucial and sensitive nature of war against terror, the victims, who are at times innocent, are forced to live with agony. Some of the vital aspects of personal freedom that are violated in the fight against terrorism are discussed below.
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION
Quite often, groups of people suspected to be terrorist are harassed based on the fact that terrorists are more likely to be from that group. Muslims, are among the religious groups whose members live in fear of being victimized by government agencies. Their houses, and neighborhoods can be searched and destroyed at any time as the counterterrorism agencies look for the criminals (Ragazzi, 727). It is unfair that any Muslim can be victimized and subjected to an unreasonable search.
