•Page 1: Memo heading followed by a full-page-long summary of the Frontline documentary or provided print source (see Topic Choices page)
•Page 2: In-text citation practice
•Page 3: Works Cited or References entry
Summary
You must summarize the provided film documentary or print source for your chosen topic (see the topic choices link on our homepage).
Head this assignment as a memo on the first page only.
The summary should contain frequent in-text citations as though you were including the summarized material in your final report later (because you likely will).
In-Text Citations
This exercise will prepare you further for incorporating sources into your own writing. As I have here, please number these sections in your final product.
1. Select a short direct quotation that you may want to include in your final report. Introduce the quotation, properly format it, and provide the appropriate documentation.
2. Select a block quote (four lines or longer) which you might include in your final report. Refer to our class lecture for formatting. Please choose something you couldn’t just paraphrase. Introduce the quote, include the quote, and then follow it with an in-text citation.
3. Select a paragraph you wish to paraphrase for your report. Please cite the paraphrase correctly (not doing so is plagiarism). Please also include a cut and pasted copy of the paragraph, so I can see how well you’ve done this step.

Greta Thunberg’s Davos Speech on Climate Change
Summary
Greta Thunberg is a Swedish 16-year-old activist at the forefront of tackling climate change and urging world leaders to take the matter seriously. In her Davos speech, she gave some compelling arguments that should serve as a wakeup call because “our house is on fire.” The Paris agreement needs to work because according to IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) we are on the brink of causing irreversible damage to the environment and it has been estimated that we have 12 years. In that period of time, radical changes need to be put into effect, for instance, reducing the CO2 emissions by at least 50%. CITATION The191 \l 1033 (The Guardian)
It's sad that we seem to prioritize financial success and failed to acknowledge its impact on climate change. We have failed and its this constant state of denial that makes, “solving the climate crisis is the greatest and most complex challenge that Homo sapiens has ever faced.” CITATION The191 \l 1033 (The Guardian) Political organizations and the media need to create public awareness for everyone to be on the same page and recognize the disaster we are about to face if we don’t start to act and reduce our emission of greenhouse gases.
We have a choice, each and every one of us needs to do their part to transform these conditions and make them better for future generations. Activism is important and we should not leave everything to the politicians because when they are busy debating whether climate change is real, irreversible damage is occurring. This should be treated as a crisis and the constant debate is useless. “...
