Statement of Goals and Choices
Purpose of the Podcast
The question of my podcast episode is: “Is playing in the NBA beneficial?” The purpose of my podcast is to show my fellow students that basketball is a much-loved sport and it is popular because it can be played as a casual game on the local court or as a competitive sport. I wanted to show my fellow students that basketball is a sport filled with benefits among which is a fantastic way to work out as it involves using your entire body. I wanted to emphasize the fact that basketball provides a plethora of health benefits such as promoting cardiovascular health, burning calories, boosting mental development, developing concentration and self-discipline, and developing motor skills and better coordination. Added to these, I wanted my fellow students to know that if one is persistent with exercise, play, commitment, and all forms of practice, there is a high chance of making it into the NBA. For this podcast, I sought the opinion of Paul, a twenty-five-year-old basketball player who plays for a local team, and is hoping to make it into the NBA in the foreseeable future. I wanted to prove that even though basketball is associated with detrimental effects such as long-term injuries; its benefits outweigh its disadvantages.
Organization of the Podcast
I strategically organized my podcast by combining the questions I asked and the answers I received from the interviewee. Each question I asked is immediately followed by the interviewee’s response; this was the best way to show how the interviewee responded and reacted to each question. Throughout the podcast, I was responsible for asking questions and presenting facts, and the interviewee contributed by providing answers and sharing his perspective where needed.
How I Got My Point Across
I successfully got my point across by conducting extensive research beforehand and presenting the facts that I had gathered from my research. The facts I had found from my research confirmed that basketball is a beneficial sport. Also confirmed was the fact that basketball had its disadvantages.
