How has social media affected millennials ability to integrate into the workforce?
The millennial generation is one of the most informed because they have been exposed to various information activities at a vast rate. The ease of access to the internet has made it easier to connect with people in different locations. While the young generation has the ability to multiprocess different things, one of the concerns is whether reliance on social media has affected their interpersonal skills. At the same time, in a multigenerational workforce, the social skills play an important role because of the differences between the generations. As the baby boomers are retiring and the millennial become the largest share of the workforce, employers still seek candidates with good social and communication skills.

For the older generations, face-to-face communication, phone and traditional mail were the most common. Gen-Xers entered the workforce at a time when the e-mail and internet were being adopted, and now technology has advanced that the social media platforms influence how people interact.
The cyber relationships are normally nontransferable, and in the workplace millenials interact with people from a different background. Typically, in social media networks people interact with those who share similar interests, family members and close friends. This limits the choices of who people identity with, and even sometimes individuals take on a fake online persona that is different from their real life. In the workplace the person-to person friendships and relationships can be more valuable where the tone of voice, body language, eye contact and other non-verbal cues represent different messages in the communication process that people learn when they interact with...
