Name: Course: Professor: Date: Is Social Equality Possible Social equality means everyone within the society having the same status in all aspects of life; this includes having equal rights to health care, economic equality, and all other social securities. It also means having equal access to opportunity and obligations. Achieving social equality means all the social boundaries and any all the existing legal boundaries needs to be eliminated. In the recent decade, there have been rising inequalities witnessed in various aspects, which are responsible for the lagging behind to the Millennium Development Goals meant to foster social equality in all areas of humanity. Although social inequalities have been driven mostly by globalization and economic integration, government policies have majorly contributed to the rising inequality in most parts the world. I believe that achieving social equality is possible and can be tackled by the government. The main reason why we are yet to achieve social equality is the government response in addressing the existing gender disparities. Women are often excluded from most global and national decision making processes. Although many programs designed by government and international organizations have visible objectives of addressing social inequalities, these programs are not inclusive. These programs are often designed without considering women‘s needs. This explains why we have failed to achieve the set millennium development goals. If women at the grassroots are adequately consulted when designing development programs, we can easily achieve social equality.
