No underlined thesis is required, but in the concluding paragraph, provide an opinion (argument) that speculates about why Sergeant Stasiak’s class read fewer books, on average per student, than the other classes. Assume that the statistics are credible and that all other factors, except for teacher presentation, are equal (reading time, types of novels, attendance, incentives, reading level of students, student demographics).

Some background about the sergeant: Sergeant Casimer Stasiak is on a unique temporary assignment to Slobovia High School. Stasiak is an active duty noncommissioned officer on loan from the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command. He is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and is fluent in several languages.
After almost ten years as an explosive ordnance disposal technician, Sergeant Stasiak received orders to teach a class of future prospects who are considering a career serving in the famed PARS (People’s Army of the Republic of Slobovia). PARS soldiers are known worldwide for their highly efficient expertise in reconnaissance, explosive ordinance, and intensive training techniques, especially escape and evasion during hours of darkness.NOTE: Before asking why a highly skilled, educated soldier would be teaching a literature class, many soldiers also possess alternative specialties and talents which may not be directly related to their primary jobs. For example, during one of this instructor’s overseas tours with the Army’s 1st Armored Division (Old Ironsides), my close co-worker received assignment orders to West Point and was installed as one of the elite Academy’s history professors.

IMPORTANT: When showing multiple statistics in an essay that obviously focuses on statistics, use numerals for the statistical data. Using numerals in such an essay simplifies the interpretation and analysis process and provides a better transition for your reader. Notice how Dr. Williams uses numerals in his article.
CAUTION: Never begin a sentence with a numeral. Find a way to re-word the sentence so that the numeral can be provided but not as the first component of a sentence.
