Selma, a movie directed by Ava DuVernay, targeted the period of the 60s when black people were denied the right to vote (Harris, 2019). The movie prompted a majority of them to take to the streets to demand their rights. In those days, protesters were shot, most of them badly wounded, and leaders like Martin Luther King arrested. Despite Selma getting criticism from those who thought the film created a scandal, it gave the exact description of the case of Alabama during that time (Harris, 2019). It was evident that through several campaigns and particularly that last march to Selma, victory was won.
