Name Course Instructor Date Review the Course Goals and Learning Objectives Part one This course has many goals and objectives that and two of these goals were very relevant to the understanding of my research and writing. The first goal or objective that I excelled in and learned the most from is with regard to inquiry & research. I am able to locate and evaluate a variety of primary and secondary research materials. Writing and research is not a walk in the park and you will appreciate this when making inquiry or research in an area that various authors have divergent opinion on an issue. Even more challenging is when the authors’ views are contradicting one another. Before you carry out research you will need to decide which source to use; whether it is primary or secondary source. Both primary and secondary sources are important to any research work. However, the choice of the source to use depends on the nature of research itself. The skill of locating and evaluating variety of primary and secondary research materials depend on whether the topic or area you are researching on is one that many authors have previously written on or not. If it is an area where many people have written on, there high chances you will come across may secondary research materials than primary materials. Using the skill of research and inquiry, you will be able to point which material is a primary source and which one is a secondary source. Having differentiated which material is primary source and which one is secondary, the skill also enables you to gauge the credibility of the sources. Where there is conflict between different authors and the reasons and genesis of the disagreement. The successful mastery and application of this skill or tool of research and inquiry is evident in my past class work titled “Stasis Theory as a Synthesis Tool” where I argued that it helps to articulate exactly where the conflicts happen. (Stasis Theory as a Synthesis Tool, 1). This tool helps you look very closely to help you identify precise tensions between two texts. It helps you understand how each author you are working with answers the question of fact, the question of definition, the question of value or quality, the question of logic and the question of policy. Another important course objective that I excelled in and learned the most from is with regard to rhetorical knowledge. Having obtained this skill that is modeled on the course objective, I can use key rhetorical concepts through analyzing and composing variety of texts. As I stated before, the nature and complexity of the research depends on the availability of materials. Far from the availability of the materials, another challenge sets in and that is one’s own understanding of the text in relations to a particular author’s point of view. This objective brings to fore the interaction and relations between the subject author and audience. The evidence of the importance and relevance of this objective in my study of the course is discernible from most of my past class work particularly “The Rhetorical Rhombus: A Modified Rhetorical Triangle. I stated thus; “The rhetorical triangle understands rhetoric in terms of an interaction between subjects, author, and audience. This model add...
